For Chapter Three, Cody and I collected and analyzed the averages and variations for a data set. The data set we picked was the question, "how many siblings do you have?", we picked this questions to conduct because there would be relatively low numbers and it doesn't require an extensive amount of thinking to find how many siblings each person has. Our project is made up of 50 students at Fowler High School, and we received our information by conducting a convenience sample, we did this through walking around our school and asking the first 50 people we see. Overall Cody and I found the: mean, median, mode, range, 5% trimmed mean, a 10% trimmed mean, the variance, standard deviation, coefficient of variation, a 75%, 88.9%, and 93.8% Chebyshev interval about the mean, the 5 number summary (min, Q1, med, Q3, max), the IQR (inter quartile range), any outliers using a 1.5 x IQR criterion, and lastly a box and whisker plot. You can find all these items easily in our report because we added color to make the items stand out. Below is our Box and Whisker Plot.
